Situated in
a quiet hamlet, this charming detached Charentaise style cottage has two
bedrooms and will comfortably accommodate 4/5 adults. It offers a
perfect choice for a quiet restful holiday.
The downstairs is spacious and open plan, encompassing a comfortably
furnished sitting area, a dining table and chairs and a well-equipped
traditional kitchen with cooker, large fridge, dishwasher and plenty of
crockery and utensils. A washing machine can be found in the utility
room adjacent.
There is a bed settee in the living room to accommodate an extra person,
and a radio, DVD player with a good selection of DVDs and a selection of
books for your entertainment; there is also a feature fireplace with a
wood-burning stove for cooler evenings. The open stairs lead from the
sitting room to the two bedrooms, one with twin beds and one with a
double bed.
Off the kitchen is a further large room housing the washing machine,
freezer and garden furniture, and the family bathroom with shower, basin
and heated towel rail There is a separate toilet with hand basin.
Outside the garden has a table and chairs for outside dining and a BBQ,
with plenty of space to park.

The towns
and beaches of the Charente Maritime are within a twenty-minute drive,
the nearest being Meschers sur Gironde, which has a choice of no less
than seven sandy beaches. A little further along you will find St.
Georges de Didonne and Royan, both offering excellent beaches, shops and
restaurants.
The area offers much of cultural and historical interest; vines are all
around with local distilleries and Cognac to sample on every corner. The
Gironde estuary offers a selection of tiny ports and fishing villages,
the most picturesque being Mortagne sur Gironde, just 10 minutes drive,
with a beautiful harbour and waterside restaurants. Most of the
surrounding villages have a restaurant, so there will be no shortage of
places to dine in the evenings.
Bordeaux, to the South, famous for its architecture, and of course,
wine. Excellent shopping! Saint-Emilion: Discover the amazing history
and architecture, with superb medieval streets and buildings. The
tourist office, offers a variety of guided tours both during the day and
evening.

Talmont sur
Gironde; an enchanting small town with narrow winding streets, set on a
promontory overlooking the estuary. One of the most visited places on
the estuary, built in the 13th century as a fortified village, the
narrow streets are flanked by small white houses and hollyhocks.
Angouleme; a very old town with winding, cobbled streets and loads of
history. Saintes, dating back to Roman times, also rich in history, with
some nice medieval houses in typical narrow streets.
The zoo at La Palmyre near Royan has been one of the most-visited
attractions in Poitou-Charentes ever since it opened in 1966. A family
affair from the start, the La Palmyre Zoo has gone from strength to
strength at its attractive forest location near the beaches of the
Charente-Maritime.
Les Antilles water park at Jonzac is an indoor aquatic centre, one of
the largest of its type in Europe, offering not just all-year-round
swimming but slides, water toboggans, indoor beaches, beauty and fitness
centres, tropical surroundings and great eating too.
Golf courses at Royan, Saintes, Cognac and Bordeaux.
How to get there:
Budget airlines fly to La Rochelle, Angouleme and Bordeaux, all three are within one hours drive. Currently, Poitiers, Limoges and Bergerac are all serviced by budget airlines and about two hours drive
away. Ryanair, Easyjet, Jet2, Flybe, BMI Baby and BA fly in to some or all of the above airports from many UK airports, including Stansted, Gatwick, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, East Midlands, Luton, Exeter, Southampton, Bristol, Bournemouth, Edinburgh,
Glasgow, Dublin, Belfast and some others.
By Car:
Portsmouth to Caen, Portsmouth to St. Malo, Dover to Calais,
Newhaven to Dieppe, and several others are all accessible within an easy
days drive
